Technical Team Lead – Remote – UK/Ireland

The role as a Technical Team Lead will include you working within an ever expanding software development team within Elemental, where you will be involved with managing a small team of developers and lead exciting projects within the organisation. 

You will be involved working on a variety of products and will have the opportunity to explain ways to continually improve the service, working within the whole software development life cycle.

What you can expect from the role:

The successful Technical Team Lead will report to the COO and will have knowledge and experience of the following skills;

-Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery

-Understanding and experience working through the whole Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

-A good understanding of best practice methodologies (Agile, JIRA, Sprint and Scrum Master)

-Team Leadership and management of staff

-A hands-on manager that can motivate, organise and task set for a development team

As Technical Team Lead you will be responsible for providing leadership through project planning within the development team.  Working alongside the Project Manager you will support them to ensure that all projects are;

-Fully documented and supported by specifications

-Completed against set specifications and quality standards

-Within an established timeframe 

-Within a set budget

This will include focusing on daily and detailed productivity and in addition also look after the broader aspects of the project including the plan, the budget, stakeholders and very importantly detailed interdependencies with other products or services vital to the delivery of the project. 

You will take care of reporting against key milestones and any governance and assurance related project documentation.  Working closely with the Product Team and the Project Manager and reporting directly to the COO you will represent the development team at Elemental meetings and will act as an enabler to ensure there are no blockers preventing delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Development Team Management

Ensure the development team is appropriately resourced to meet the requirements of the product backlog and roadmap as necessary

Organise and lead on daily stand ups

Organise and lead on sprints using Jira

Organise monthly development releases 

Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work

Leveraging organisational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members

Liaise with Implementation and sales team on development timescales and technical roadmap

Product Team Support

Support the Product Team in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance

Process Management and Improvement

Define and manage a well-defined project management process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices

Team Building

Promote empowerment of the team

ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution

encourage a sustainable pace with high-levels of quality for the team

Essential Criteria:

At least two years experience in a similar type role

Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery 

Understanding and experience working through the whole Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

A good understanding of best practice methodologies (Agile, JIRA, Sprint and Scrum Master)

Team Leading abilities

A hands-on manager that can motivate, organise and task set for a development team

Desirable Criteria:

Experience of working within public, community and voluntary sector partnerships

Experience of working in an Agile environment

An interest in health innovation

An understanding of population health management
