As we reach an Elemental milestone, we are delighted to feature the newest member of our team, tech entrepreneur and angel investor, Mary McKenna as she makes the announcement that she has joined Team Elemental.
It is with great pleasure and delight that I’m able to announce today that I’ve formally joined Northern Irish tech for good startup, Elemental Software.
Elemental’s co-founders are Leeann Monk-Ozgul & Jennifer Neff, and believe it or not they met through their mutual love of diagrams…which in my book is as good a way as any to identify a business partner. Both women have a strong track record in designing and managing community programmes and both have worked for many years in the tricky interface that exists between the private, public and third sectors. Even better, Jennifer and Leeann are both from Derry. Derry was where Learning Pool started and it makes me very happy to continue supporting economic growth in the North West of Ireland by backing another local company that is without doubt destined for huge global success.
Elemental provides an early to market digital solution that eases and addresses an escalating set of health related social challenges. Social prescribing is described as a way of linking patients in primary care with sources of support within the community. It’s as simple as that and it gives, for example, GPs a non-medical referral option that will run alongside existing treatments to improve a patient’s health and well-being.
Elemental is the fifth company to join my small stable of early stage tech companies. I made my first angel investment 2 years ago this very week into RunAClub – a fabulous company that provides any type of club or group with a useful and affordable knowledge based administration platform.
I look for startups with that magic combination of knowledgeable and credible co-founders, a great product, a large and ready market opportunity and a measure of tech for good or social purpose. Elemental Software has all of that and more.
Leeann and Jennifer have impressed me by creating an incredibly polished and intuitive product, by assembling a founding team that includes well known Northern Irish businessmen Aidan McGrath and Ryan Williams (both with a blue chip business development and technology sales background) and by building a quality pipeline of interested and engaged potential customers and partners.
I’m looking forward to adding value to the company as soon as possible and bringing my experience and extensive network to bear. We’re about to roll out the first social prescribing programme in the United Arab Emirates region, connecting key stakeholders in diabetes prevention and supporting patients most at risk to make better lifestyle choices, enhancing their quality of life and reducing demand on health services. Jennifer, Leeann and I will be at Arab Health in Dubai next week. Visit us on stand Z1 B30 to find out how we can help you or to discuss potential partnership opportunities.
Please do us a big favour and share our news with your own networks 🙂 We hope to meet some of you in Dubai next week!
