This week Elemental took the message of social prescribing to The 24th Annual EMIS NUG Conference (National User Group).
It was fantastic to hear about more GP practices referring to themselves as social prescribing practices. We spoke with GPs and CCG commissioners about their plans to initiate/ build upon social prescribing programmes in their communities.
Whilst the benefits of social prescribing are being reported weekly, it seems more and more can be done to support GPs and others to make initial social prescribing referrals. Just today the BBC featured a London School of Economics study that found that for every £1 spent in preventing loneliness there are £3 of savings http://www.bbc.com/news/education-41349219
Elemental saves time by enabling GPs to make direct referrals to community Social Prescribers in under 60 seconds, improving productivity and ultimately, bettering patient care. Not only is Elemental freeing up resources and cutting costs, but it also provides monthly progress reports so that each patient referral can be tracked against specific and cohort health risks.
