Elemental is delighted to welcome Debs Taylor as Patient Advisor, to provide advice and guidance to ensure the team’s social prescribing platform addresses the needs of people accessing mental health support in their local communities.
Debs, who has experienced and overcome mental health challenges and uses her experiences to help others, works for Creative Minds, a link charity hosted by South West Yorkshire NHS Trust that uses creative approaches and activities in healthcare to increase self-esteem for people with mental health problems.
Amongst her many achievements, she has spoken at government level at the all-party parliamentary group for arts, health and wellbeing, and at the King's Fund Social Prescribing Conference. She has also been shortlisted in the Sue Ryder Yorkshire Women of Achievement Awards.
Debs will be helping Elemental to respond effectively to patient needs and advise on mental health policy developments and practice, as well as working to quantify the impact of individuals that are engaging in their own health and wellbeing improvement. She will also be supporting work to bring together health, local authority and third sector organisations to deliver a joined-up approach to mental health support.
In her own words ‘People often say the sky's the limit, art has taught me the sky has no limit, we can all achieve more than we are ever led to believe or think we can’.
